DH - The Eternal Optimist

DH and I got into it last night (no fighting - more of a passionate conversation) over my pessimism (I call it realism) and in general, my habit of planning ahead ? expecting the worse and having a plan in place in the event that?s exactly what happens. He chastised me a bit. Maybe I had it coming. Details are in my BLOG.

 

There's just something about the 2ww that screws with me each month. Toward the end, I just revert to what my mother always taught me...... Expect nothing and you'll never be disappointed.

 

Maybe that advice doesn't apply to TTC.

DH is my best cheerleader.  And when AF shows he always says that we will nail it next cycle.  I am with you, low expectations, panicked every time I go to the bathroom around CD25-28.

My Dh is the same way.

Today I told him that I was sure AF was coming, and he said "i think you are just pregnant".

Thanks for staying positive when I am spiralling downward, babe. It does slow the downward slide a bit.

I completely understand!  DH has gone from having a very nonchalant attitude toward ttc to a very gung-ho, "let's do this!" mentality.  While I appreciate that, I've adopted an "expect nothing" philosophy too.  Every cycle when the spotting starts, I give up hope.  I just keep telling myself that I'll be pg someday, but probably no day soon.  I hope to prove myself wrong, though

mh is the same way too! he is convinced we are going to be pg again before the end of this year. and i love how optimistic and sure he is, but i feel like it's going to be a big blow if that is not how things work out.

DH is the same way!  It is easier for me to expect the worst and than be super happy when it doesn't happen than to set myself up for depression...but his enthusiasm has leaked over to me this cycle, for the first time...so god i hope this works!!

I am totally in your shoes! I guess that's what DH's are there for, to balance out our insanity? Sounds like you make a great team like we do. He's the cheerleader and I'm the downer (or as I call it, realistic one).

My DH is the same way. I'm just always preparing for disappointment. I've had a long streak of bad luck throughout my life anyway, so I feel nothing really comes easy in my world. He's the take lemons and make lemonade guy, I'm the take the lemons and peg them at something girl!
