Constant Grunting

DD is BF and I supplement soy formula one a day. When I put her down to sleep at night she constantly grunts, so much so that it keeps me up at night. Any ideas on what this could be?

Re: Constant Grunting

  • My LO would wake me up b/c he would grunt so bad.  He grew out of it around 5-6 weeks.  GL

Same here. It didn't bother me as much as FI though.

  • I have no idea why, but my little one does the same thing.  My pediatrician didn't seem concerned.
  • Is she moving around a lot while she's grunting?  I've read that babies have two types of sleep; active and deep.

During active sleep babies moving a ton and make a lot of noise.  DD used to do this from birth to around 6 weeks.  She would grunt and squeak while she squirmed around.  She outgrew it though.

  • We had the same problem with DS...we switched to Similac Sensitive (obviously formula is not a problem for you) and started swaddling him when we put him to sleep and putting him on his side in a sleep positioner, instead of on his back.  It made a world of difference, we all sleep much better now!
  • OMG...does my child sleep at your house?? Mine is the same way. He grunts so much and so loud that I can't get any sleep.
