High-Risk Pregnancy

1st u/s yesterday went great, AND Lovenox reduced to 1x per day! :-)

Had our first ultrasound yesterday at 9 weeks, 2 days and everything was great!  We saw the heart beating (167 bpm), and saw the baby squirming.  It's so cool to see that there is actually something IN there!

Also, my doctor told me that I can reduce my Lovenox injections from 2x/day to 1x/day!!  I am SO happy about that, because now it'll take me twice as long to run out of places to inject.  ;-)  I'm trying to avoid resorting to my thighs, arms or butt.

  • What great news!

If you don't mind me asking, what was it that lowered your Lovenox to 1x/ day?  My first appt is next week and I'm just wondering what to expect :)

    Congrats!

  • Ooooh envious about only 1 shot a day!  Congrats!
  • My doctor said that the recommended guidelines stated that the dosage should be 40 mg 1x/day.  (I'm not sure why I was ever on it 2x/day, but who am I to question a doctor...)

I tried to find something about "guidelines" online, but only came up with this  which didn't help much.

I have seen on these boards instances of women requiring just one injection a day, and women requiring two.  So, while the thought of cutting my dosage in half is a little scary, I take comfort in knowing that there are people who are successfully treated both ways.

Anyway, I'll savor my once-a-day stabbing myself routine for now, because at thirty-something weeks I'll be switched to Heparin which is 2x/day and way more high-maintenance from what I hear. Smile

  • I am jealous of your one shot a day but that seems like a pretty low dose.  Does your doctor check your anti Xa levels?  Mine checks mine monthly and after this last check, she moved me from 80 mg once a day to 60 mg twice a day.  The lower dose might be fine for you but hopefully they are monitoring it just to be sure.  When they draw the blood, it should be 4 hours after you give yourself the shot.
