Babies: 0 - 3 Months

i think im ready to stop swaddling..

my DS has slept with both arms out since birth since he needs his hands by his face. He also doesnt need to sleep in a swaddle during naps. Also, for the past few mornings I have found him completely unswaddled when he wakes up, like he kicks himself out of it.

so do you ladies think he is ready to be unswaddled? how should i go about transitioning him out of it?

magic potion in my breastmilk?? haha jk

I have no idea, just one of those very lucky moms i guess! Im sure i will pay for it with my second child!

  • Did he sleep better for you last night or was he up again?

I quit cold turkey with DS.  He did great the first night and then fussed the next 2.  Been great ever since and he's been out for a little over a month now.

he did great! it mustve been a fluke the other night.. we put him to bed back at his regular 9pm and just dealth with his "witching hour" and he slept from 9 to 430 :)

  • DS is really active so I was too scared to swaddle for long. But he loves sleep sacks! He has a thicker organic one for cool nights and a thin muslin one for warmer nights. He still feels bundled a little but it's not moving anywhere.

  • I think he is ready, and he is showing you signs that he is.  I think he is taking all the necessary steps to unswaddling haha.  My biggest swaddle problem is the hands - when he gets scared in his sleep they fly and wake him up..so I think you are ok.
