I'm need to come up with a gift for a new baby, due in Oct. I know it's a girl. The recipient is a client of mine so I know her semi-well. I've met her twice, but talk on the phone almost daily. Her company sent me a box of cookies from Cheryl & Co when I had Stella last year. She probably spent about $50 maybe less. I don't want to give the same thing, in fact I would like to stay away from edibles altogether. I was hoping you ladies could give me something clever, maybe even trendy, that would make for a cute gift. It's her first baby, if that matters.
Thanks!
Re: baby girl gift suggestions please
I just bought my girlfriend a box of Trumpette Mary Jane socks ($25) and the "I am _____ months old" stickers.

Or for a first born, I like to give a Miracle Blanket and the Happiest Baby on the Block DVD
I also LOVE The Trumpette Mary Jane socks or the ballet slipper socks, so adorable on newborn baby girls! And, for a first time mom, looking at those tiny little socks is just overwhelming!!
Other great gifts: Pediped shoes
A cute hooded towel (a bunny, perhaps?)
Ultimate Swaddle blanket
a pretty brush and comb set (silver?)
footie pajamas (can't get enough of these)--with zippers, the snaps are a pain.
DD wears these and these all of the time! LOVE THEM! Also, I love her bow holder and anything totally impractical but adorable like this!
I love anything from etsy seller Southernsassypants . I had a custom made blanket made with birdy fabric that I picked out....she searched for the fabric, ordered it and made the blanket. She also did a custom appliqued pillow with Madeleine's name on it. LOVE it!
These are great too for infant girls because they're super soft (cotton knit rather than crochetted or lace headbands which I loathe) and comfy and can be ordered in smaller sizes so they don't look super ridiculous like some baby bows you see. Really anything from her site is good...I can attest because I've ordered quite a bit from her.
wow. Thanks for all the info. I love all the ideas in the responses, but I'm thinking I want to send something she'd never buy herself. Something as you described it...totally impractical Thanks for all the links! I will have to exercise restraint or I'll end up with a bunch of stuff for my DD too!
