That my doc never checked my betas? I've never gone through treatments or anything and never had any indications of a problem, but my first appointment is FINALLY on Friday (at 9w2d) and I'm a little concerned that this will be the first time I'll have it confirmed by my doctor. I know they'll draw blood, have me PIAC, do a family history, a pelvic and pap, but other than that they already told me they won't do a Doppler and there is no U/S machine in their office. Boring. But, I'm still questioning why they never checked betas....? Is this normal?
Re: Is it strange...
Unless you're considered high risk (past m/c, fertility treatments, ect), it's normal not to have your betas checked
Generally won't be able to hear the heartbeat on a doppler until around week 12. And it's very common to only have one u/s covered around 20w (unless you're opting for the NT screen around 12w and/or you're high risk).
My first official appointment is on the 17th. That will be the first time they'll take my bloodwork.
I think you only get betas checked if you have problems (IF, past miscarriage, high risk, etc). Don't worry about it.
