Iced tea?

Is iced tea ok to drink? What about sweetened iced tea?

Re: Iced tea?

  • I wouldn't drink too much due to the caffeine in tea. you can probably find the amount on line somewhere and then you can determine how much of it you can drink per your doctors instructions on your limit.

  • Should be made with Real sugar.. no substitues and you can drink Decaf even though it's hard to find premade.  I buy the decaf powder mix and add lemons.
  • Yes, it's fine. Buy decaf tea bags and if you sweeten it, sweeten it with real sugar (not aspartame).

I LOVE sweet tea, but I live in the south, so it's like a requirement here. :) Sadly, I don't drink it at restaurants because it's all caffeinated. I know I can have a little caffeine, but I prefer to avoid completely.

And to the pp - you drink powdered tea? How can you stand that stuff? lol.

  • The general consensus is 200mg of caffeine/day when pregnant.  A cup of tea is between 40-60mg.  Roughly, I think two glasses of a caffeinated beverage a day, though some have more or less caffeine.  Home brewed coffee has 135mg.  Don't forget there is caffeine in chocolate and coffee flavored icecreams, etc...it all adds up.

  • Iced Tea and Italian Subs have been BY FAR the hardest things to not eat!  I lived on sweet tea before.  My doctor said it was fine in moderation, so I am just careful about my consumption.  Instead of drinking 4 glasses when we went out to dinner, now I drink one.  Can you make your own at home using decaf?  I do that sometimes as well and it helps.

  • I am a tea-aholic and my doctor told me not to drink diet tea and limit it to 2 glasses per day.  Just watch the caffine.
  • I make decaf sweet tea with equal and enjoy it every day. My Dr said equal is ok, not sweet n low. So enjoy:)
