When first bloodwork

When did your doctor send you for bloodwork?? I see alot of post about checking levels often but I have been going through the doc. visits with my BFF and they only ordered bloodwork at her first appt at 8 weeks and then only again for special testing 6 weeks later.

I go to the same doctors office and I want to make sure I shouldnt be requesting something more. I had such trouble ttc and I am extra nervous.

I only had blood work during my initial visit, then again during my 16-18 week visit, and I will have another set during my 28 week visit. I think thats about normal, unless you have a special history and there is a need for them to check you levels.

yeah i was wondering the same thing about checking their levels all the time. ?I only had my bloodwork done today and nothing talked about anymore bloodwork. ?My next appt is in about 5 weeks and by then i think we are just going to do an ultrasound.?

Most places won't check your hcg levels unless they feel there is a problem.  I wouldn't have had mine checked unless I had my spotting issue at 5 weeks.

I've had Beta's run so many times i can't count anymore.  But, I go to a RE.  A normal OB won't run them as much, normally.

I had blood drawn at my 1st appointment at 8 weeks.  Checking beta levels is usually only done if you have had past problems/history of miscarriages.  I don't even think mine were checked at all.  All I remember from my blood work was blood type, blood count (like I get yearly at a physical not special to pregnancy), std screens, and antibody test to see if I was immune to rubella.

I have a lot of blood work done because I lost two previous to DD. So my dr. monitors my hcg levels. Some dr.'s do a standard 48 hour quantative hcg test, others don't. My dr. didn't at first w/ my 1st pregnancy. When I started spotting was when he sent me & we discovered it was ectopic. Now due to my history he automatically orders them. Otherwise he would not have. He typically does a big one (8 vials) at around 8-10 weeks, then you have one w/ your gestational diabetis test around 20'ish weeks. Then I'm pretty sure they took blood when I was admitted to be induced. But honestly that day was a blur.

I only had bloodwork done at my first appt at 6 weeks, and that was for STD screening, immunity to diseases, blood type, and red blood count.  No talk about bloodwork since.

My doc's office sent me at 16DPO to confirm my HPT, it wasn't required, they asked if I wanted to and I said yes.  I'll get more bloodwork done at my 8week appt

My dr ordered 3 tests for my Hcg levels since I miscarried before.  Also since I am adopted and have no medical history I had to be tested for like everything in the book.  11 vials of blood!

Levels are all good this time around, keeping my fingers crossed!
