TTC after 35

1st RE visit update

So, I saw the RE today...  He said I may have (something like) intermittant ovarian failure... But, right now my ovary (I only have 1) is working.  Sooo, he did an ultrasound and said the uterus & ovary look normal.   Gave me a prescription for Clomid & Ovidrel.  I take 2 Clomid every day for 5 days and next Tuesday I do an HSG.  They did bloodwork today too.  DH had to give blood too & goes for an SA tomorrow or Monday.  RE said I had good timing since today is cycle day 1, we can get started right away especially since I am 41....  He was very straight forward, DH & I both liked him.

Wow, this is moving FAST!  LOL

Insurance covers fertility related prescriptions except injectibles.... so, now I am researching to see where I can get the Ovidrel the least expensively...

Re: 1st RE visit update

  • I think it is a good sign that your first RE apt fell on CD1.  That will help you get started right away.    Good luck with the HSG.
  • That is great that things are moving fast.  Good luck!!

  • I'm glad you're getting going with things right away.  It can feel a little unsettling, but will be good to have a plan.  I hope your BFP is fast coming as well!
  • I'm glad that you are starting to get some answers. Good luck with all of your testing.  And I do think that you got in on CD1 is a good omen. It's crazy how we all have been waiting and waiting and then all of the sudden it seems like everything is on warp speed.

  • That's great that you both like him and that he likes to move fast!!!

    GL with your HSG!

I know I saw on one of the boards that someone had done some research on websites that sell fertility meds....I have looked but I cannot find it!! Maybe one of the other girls can help!

  • Will you be monitored on the Clomid? You didn't mention ultrasounds, make sure that they monitor you and good luck.

Yes, they will do another ultrasound before they do the HSG next Tuesday.

  • thats so great you are on warp speed. glad you are being monitored. it may seem like you are moving fast but thats good. it means your RE is on the same page as you and is aware of your age; and obstacles and wants you to have your BFP ASAP! time is of the essence

but if it feels like its moving to fast for your comfort, you know you have the option of discussing it with your RE and DH, just something to think about.

    good luck.

oh and try Costco, Sams Club, wal-mart, and target, or check out the TTTC board, they frequently have posts about where to get meds.  i think one online is called the medicine shoppe, i'm not sure
