momsclub.org?

Does anyone belong to a moms group through momsclub.org? Or do you run a chapter?

I am thinking of starting a chapter in my city (northern MN), but want to know what others think of the organization. We have a few other mom's groups (meetup and MOPS) but none that I have really connected with/felt welcome....so I thought why not start my own?

Experience with momsclub.org? Thoughts? Advice? thanks!

Re: momsclub.org?

  • I was a member (and Treasurer) and thought it was pretty great for the most part.  I'm sure all chapters are a bit unique, but I would keep in mind that the focus of the group is moms supporting other moms so while most of the activities obviously include and even center around the little ones, the intent is not to make friends for your child, but more for yourself.

I ended up quitting at some point as well just because my particular group was focusing more on the kids than moms supporting moms and in particular focusing on infants so many events I wasn't able to take my 2 year old to and I felt that because he "aged out" of the playgroups there was nothing left that I could really be involved with.

I hope that doesn't sound too negative, it is a great organization and I particularly liked the community service aspect of it.

  • I was a member (and also on the board as treasurer!) of my local Moms Club back when DS was a baby. We definitely aged out of it too and then by the time DD came along, I couldn't take her anywhere b/c she hated the carseat and cried all the time and I didn't know anybody anymore either. It was a great group though :)

  • I'm in one here and I like it a lot. It's a really small group, so I think that helps it to be a bit more relaxed than some of the larger groups.
