My sister is thinking of putting her 2.5 year old in a booster and a good friend already did. I want to send out a mass e-mail to my firends with a good article about the safety and necessity of a 5 point harness instead of a booster for this age. Any good credible links?

Here's all the AAP car seat info. The booster seat page says "school aged child", which a 2.5 year old definitely is not.
Hell, they are now recommending that you keep a kid rear-facing in a convertible until aged 2.

Also, check the laws for your state. Many of them are 4 years and 40 lbs.

Try utube. I watched a video about a 3yr old that was thrown from his belt positioning booster and killed. His 5yr old sister who was sitting next to him in the exact same seat had only scratches. It was a roll over accident which I dont think many people think could happen them but they do happen and I want my kids to be safe if it does. It is my resposibility to protect them the best I can. Keeping them in a 5 point booster until 65lbs is one thing I can do without any problems. L buckles himself in and pulls the chest clip up with no problems. He has done this for about 6 months and is 4yrs old.
Im sure there are tons of things out there. I would just google some. But really, a video is worth a 1,000 articles. People really dont see the importance in this. DH friends have a little girl younger than K&K (3) already in a booster. They laughed at me when I told them that all 3 of my kids would be in a 5 point harness until 65lbs. They said their 8yr old was very smal for his age and just barely weighed 70lbs and they couldnt imagine him being in a harness until 7 whe he finally reached 65lbs.
I just took the kids and put them in the van. We were on our way out anyways. It made me mad and sad for thier dd that is way to small/young for a booster.

Seriously. WATCH that video and email that to them all. I just watched it again and chills ran all over my body. Im in tears its so sad. That is the video I was talking about.
It's also at the bottom of the page I hotlinked...along with two others if you can stomach them all.
I just posted this a couple weeks ago, but my son's friend was just in a serious accident, and they told his parents at the hospital that the majority of injuries they see are from children prematurely put in boosters. He's 5 and was still in his Marathon, thankfully.
As I said then, when it comes down to it, safety is really the ONLY parenting decision that matters at all...
