seems like this one high school senior girl that I know would love to baby sit!!! yeah!!! she is a very responsible and great kid!she is 16 going on 17...
so how much to pay her.... how much do you pay your sitter?
I asked this awhile ago and got varying responses...
A friend has the girls that work at her kids daycare babysit every once in awhile and they charge $10/hour. They are all at the minimum in college.
With that said, we had our 14 year old neighbor come last week and babysit/entertain the kid (while hubby worked at home in the office) and paid her $10/hour too. Maybe a bit high for a 14 year old but she's a really nice and trustworthy girl and her family has been very good to us. I guess I just always think I want them to at least make as much as they would at a part time job and maybe a little more just to keep them coming back!
We have a 16-17 y/o sitter who we pay $8/hr. When I approached her about sitting for us and asking what she charges, she told us she actually took $20 FLAT for babysitting 2 kids for someone else. I felt that was not really fair for her, so we decided $8/hr was fair for her. We paid our nanny $12 hr plus $6 for gas (that's just because we 'stole' her from the nanny service after they started charging more and this is what they charged us, so we just kept it all the same).
