Thank you so much for responding to my post below. Your situation is exactly what I am worried about moving straight into IVF. However, my RE said that an IVF cycle would never be cancelled because of overstimming because that's the point of all the hormones (versus an injectibles/IUI cycle where HOM would be too risky).

I'm sorry if this is a ridiculously stupid question, but if they are trying to retrieve as many eggs as possible wouldn't it be good that you've produced so many follicles?

That is not true about an IVF cycle never being canceled.? I'm pretty sure my cycle will get canceled and there is another girl on here who had her cycle was canceled today due to high E2 levels.

IUI cycles and IVF cycles are canceled for different reasons - with IUI if you make too many eggs they will cancel your cycle for fear that you'll become the next octmom.? With IVF if you make too many eggs or your estrogen levels get too high they will cancel because either you become overstimulated or at risk of becoming over stimulated.? My RE told me today that over stimulation is very serious and I could get very sick and in some cases it's life threatening.? ?

Your ovaries ballon up when you are over stimulated and I think that happens from high E2 levels, but I think the more eggs you have the more prone you are to having high levels. With your eggs it's about quality not quanity. Obviously, you have a better shot of getting a higher number good quality eggs if you have a lot, but I think when you have too many it may affect the egg quality.

Ask your RE about over stimulation - I wouldn't trust him/her saying it's not possible for the cycle to get canceled.? I think it's really important to have a dr. you trust.? This is my 2nd RE and I am very happy with him.? My RE told me that because I'm pretty young and my ovaries are healthy I responded "too well" to the meds.

Your welcome.? I don't want to turn you off to IVF altogether because I will do it again in a heartbeat the next chance that I get if this cycle does not work out!??

I just think with you trying injectables on IUI they'll have a better idea of how you respond to the meds.? Esp since most insurance companies usually only give you a lifetime number of IVF cycles.? But if they do cancel and do not do a retrieval it does not count as one of your cycles.
