2nd Trimester

NBR.. I hate farmer's insurance.

They totally raped DH on his policy before we got married.  Even with his "military" discount he was paying almost $400 a month for "full coverage" with a $1250 deductable, no rental car coverage and state minimum collision/liability.

The car was in an accident and never ran right after.  We went back and forth with the adjuster and he was so rude.  He basically called DH stupid.. to his face.  DH doesn't really hate anyone, but he wanted to hit that guy, hard..

So we are getting ready to sell his car.  We took it to the dealer, they gave us a great deal on fixing it.. but it's still $2000.

EVERY SINGLE mount in the car is busted.  You can't just do that.. accidents cause engine/tranny mounts to break.. It's the main cause of what we were complaining about before and the insurance company, well really the douche adjuster, just ignored us.

I'm so going to call them and take them to small claims if I have to, to get them to pay for these damn engine mounts.

Them ripping DH off is kind of his fault.. I mean, he could have changed companies.. it's not their fault he didn't know better.. but to basically knowingly not do your job and put people in an unsafe car is really too much for me.. all because you don't want to take the time to double check something.  The adjuster said we were wrong and nothing was wrong with the car.  It freaking shakes, like a phone on vibrate when it's in idle.. that's NOT normal.

GRRR.

Re: NBR.. I hate farmer's insurance.

  • After the accident was the car covered by insurance to be repaired?  I'm not really understanding...sound more like a crappy repair job if anything.  Not much the insurance can do about that since you can choose your auto shop.
  • Loading the player...
  • yah, we took it to one of their authorized repair shops after the accident and they missed the engine mounts being busted.

they refused to look at it again after they gave the car back to us.

  • I hate Farmers as well. DH and I were with them under my parents policy, and they just kept increasing the premiums like every couple of months. So for 2 cars it was costing us 360 a month by the time we switched. And that was with several discounts. Now, we're w/ Progressive (for the time being, until we can switch to the same company that has our home owner's insurance). When we first switched it dropped us to 190 a month. Also having had to deal with both insurances with no fault claims, Progressive was SO much better than farmers. I would not go back to them even if I had no other choice.
  • We have USAA now, and they've been awesome.  Someone broke into my Honda and they paid for everything that was taken.. no problem and even came to our house to look at the car.  Farmers wouldn't even do that, we have to pay for them to tow the car to the shop too.

    Sigh.

I called the local office and they were nice, so hopefully that trend will continue.

  • I was in a 5 car accident a couple years ago. I stopped and the pickup behind me ran into my trunk which pushed me into a car and that car into a car and so on. My car was totaled, it wasn't a new car by any means (an 86 Saab 900 S) but it was in good shape and ran well.

The guy who hit me had Farmers, they told me they were only going to give me $600 total for reimbursment for my car... I told them h3ll no! It took 6 months of them calling once a week before they settled on $1000.

    They are a pain.

  • We recently had a great experience too.  When we got married our account was linked to my in-laws bc we were in college.  Apparently they didn't unlink them and recently decided they should have so rather than take out the authorized $150 per month, they randomly (without letting us know in advance) took out $450 instead!  We got the money back as our bank said it was an unauthorized charge when we challenged it.

They then sent us a check to reimburse the amount & we called to tell them our bank already got the money back, so we wouldn't cash the check.  They said they would send us a new invoice with the amount we needed to pay.   But WAIT... they didn't.  So about 4-6 weeks later I get a call from a collections company.  I was freaking out.  It was because Farmer's sent us there.  When we called Farmer's they said they don't send more than 2 invoices.  We were like... Uh, they told us they would send us a CORRECT bill and we haven't received anything!   They didn't care.  We were so PISSED!  They send us to collections over their mistakes and without a correct bill!!!  And after only like a month?!?

The bad thing is our agent goes to our church & my mom has worked (and still works) for Farmer's for forever.

You know you can challenge that on your credit report and get it taken off? ?I just did with a $125 medical bill.. They couldn't even tell me what doctor it came from and wanted me to pay it.. I never received anything from them and so experian removed it.

I just don't like the attitude we got from the original adjuster.. he made us feel stupid for something we were actually right about.. so screw them.?
