We are planning our annual trek to Milwaukee in a few weeks and need some info on the road situation. Every year we go up there and get stuck driving in circles to get anywhere. Is the massive road construction over? Still a PITA? Any 'insider' info would be appreciated!!!
Re: Any in or around Milwaukee?
I live in Milwaukee!
The Marquette Interchange project (the one that goes right thru downtown) is completed (and beautiful) and moves along nicely.
There is a lot of construction south of Milwaukee, right around the airport (it looks like they are adding in new overpasses and on/off ramps), but for the most part is pretty manageable and the work is not done during rush hour times.
There is also road construction between Chicago and the Kenosha/Racine area. I am not in that area much, but it can be a PITA because of all the Chicago peeps who come up for all of Milwaukee festivals.
Any other questions, let me know!
Ah, yes. I remember from last year the terrible (and sudden) construction back up we ran into around Racine to go through Chicago. It's always a toss up between going straight south through Chicago (we're 2.5 horus south of Chi-town) or heading west and then south via Janesville. Thank you for the update. I posted on the local board too, but this helps immensely!
We're going to a festival too, so please don't hate me!
