Weight gain

My SIL, who tends to exagerate, told me yesterday that I will probably gain one pound every day in the last couple of weeks of pregnancy. I have gained almost 25 lbs so far and can't imagine gaining that much in such a short period of time. Have you heard of this or is my SIL just from outer space?

Your SIL is crazy. Your baby should be putting on a half a pound a week during the last few weeks but for most women I believe the weight gain seems to even out.

Complete outer space.  Tell her to do some research, her ignorance is showing!!   (weight gain actually slows down just a bit right toward the end)

1 pound a day??? That's a tad too much if you ask me. More realistic if it's 1-2 pounds a week, but it can vary.

i've heard one pound a week, but i've also heard that people gain weight completely differently. i gained 35 pounds by week 30, and in the last two weeks, i haven't really gained anything (and i hope it stays that way). i wouldn't put too much credibility into what she says.

When I was pregnant last time, I didn't gain one single pound during my last month.  Your SIL has no clue what she's talking about.

Outer space, toward the end the baby will put on a half pound a week so you may put on a little more than that but no not a pound every day.

I'm glad I'm not the only who gain weight so fast at my 28 week apt I had gained 32 pounds I hope I also slow down a little we will sell on the 12th.

The baby somehow manages to continue to gain 1/2 lb. /wk, but mommas can actually stop gaining or begin to lose slightly by the 9th month.  It's common for weight gain to end in month 8.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!  I had gained 27 lbs at my 28 week appointment and it kinda freaked me out.
