Horrible 12 mo. appt! LONG

We just moved from Fort Myers, FL to a small town in Indiana right across from Louisville, KY. I loved our pedi in FL and went with a practice in IN who was recommended on www.city-data.com.

First of all, we waited almost 1.5 hours for the doc to see us and it was a 10 minute appt. I'm not convinced the man specialized in pediatrics, we went to a family &pediatric practice. He couldn't answer ANY of my questions ranging from getting rid of the binky, weaning from BFing, how to get DD to stop waking up at night wanting to eat.

He actually advised me to put a bottle of water in her crib with her at night so that when she woke up she could drink that instead of crying for me. Last I checked, that was a big No-No. He also told me that DD would get rid of the binky herself before she went to school (and YES he meant kindergarten). Oh yes, and he said I should go ahead and start letting DD have table foods now and when I told him she has been eating only finger food/regular food since 11 months he looked at me like I was insane.

Also, he told me there were no shots that she was supposed to get at 12 mos (even when I asked him about the MMR and chicken pox vaccines). Now, she is behind one shot from her 9  mo appt and her 12 mo. shots. I know that some pedis don't do them all at the same time, but he flat out just said she didn't need those shots and wasn't sure she even got them at 15 mo. I know this is a hot topic on here, but our decision was to follow the regular schedule, not a delayed schedule.

I have another actual pediatrician (not a family & pediatric practice) lined up for her 15 mo. appt now, recommended by DH's boss. I am just upset with the 12 mo, appt because I didn't get any advice on the issues I had and now DD is way behind on her shots. I miss my pedi from Florida... he was amazing!
