So I look about the same, just with baby belly (am 25 weeks), but at my last appointment I had gained 15 pounds in 5 weeks! EEEK! so I got the lecture.... I dont feel that I've been eating bad foods, I look exactly the same just with a belly and I've gained a total of 30 pounds so far. But I am measuring perfect and my blood pressure is great, even the nurse said she couldn't tell where the weight was on me. I'm really nervous because I still have 15 weeks to go. Anyone else had a really surprising weight gain? I'm freaking out a bit!!!
Re: ridiculous weight gain at last appt.
I feel that way. I only gained 2 lbs until I was 20 weeks. In the last 6 I have gained like 17. I know how you feel.
Same here! I have no idea where it went - yes, cravings have kicked in a little, but I'm not eating terribly! A total of 20 lbs so far, but the last 4 weeks account for 9 of them! Guess I'm not going to be at the 'recommended' weight gain... Oh well. Baby and I are healthy, that's all that matters, right??
Well, we can only pray that the whole breast-feeding-helps-weight-melt-off thing works. I'd love to share that w/ those annoying, never-had-kids friends!
I had one month where my weight jumped unexpectedly, even though I didn't think I was doing anything differently. If it's a one-off thing, I wouldn't get too upset about it - just try to make healthy choices as much as possible and what happens happens, you know? (Easier said than done, of course.)
The other thing to keep in mind is that it is summer and you may be swelling, so that a decent portion of that weight gain could just be water retention. Try to cut back on sodium (also not easy, but trying to cook instead of eating out and avoiding things like soup, Chinese food, processed foods, etc) and up your water intake to see if that helps. I know that it can make a big difference for me.
Visualizing kicking non-pg, lecturing doctors in their skinny little shins can definitely help as well.
Same thing happened to me...gained 10 lbs in 4 weeks and got the lecture as well.
I gained 7 lbs in 2 weeks a while back.. then lost 5 lbs the month after that..
I got a lecture too.. then when I lost the 5 lbs, they were happy. I told them it was water weight, my feet were swollen and I had kidney stones.. but they didn't really believe me (about it being water weight).. I am overweight to begin with, so they only wanted me to gain 15 - 20 total.. when I had gained the 7, I was at 15 total gained since BFP..
HTH some..
