EFF mamas

Just curious - do you feel you're adamantly against one of the not-as-EF alternatives that you have chosen to avoid with your DC?

The DC/BPA/jarred food post got me thinking - I could have a DCP that had to do disposables - I wouldn't be pleased, and I'd try to get them to consider cloth, but there is no way that I'd let them make the food choice for me.  I know it helps that I'm not really in the situation of needing daycare, so it's all fun and games for me to spout off like this, but still.  If there was any way I could, I would find a DCP that would accept my homemade food or do my best to change their minds.  I don't think jarred food is poison, etc, but I really feel strongly about the choice that I've made with that one.

Just curious - is there anything for you that you feel is a "my way or the highway" type of decision?

Re: EFF mamas

  • I probably have too many and would get my child kicked out of daycare.  I am very weird about lots of things - food, diapers (DS had a horrid rash in disposables for months), and tv.

ETA:  breastfeeding too, thanks for reminding me.

  • Breastfeeding. And I know formula moms would flame me for this. I have never let a drop of formula touch Allisons lips. I'm a BFing elitist.
  • Breastfeeding, food, CD's... I am a little bit of a snob in all aspects.  OH, and I don't mind my kid watching a bit of tv, but I  have to approve what they are watching.
  • My neuroticism about such concerns is one of the reasons that I am concerned about having children actually.  I am petrified of putting my child in daycare and having it be fed kraft mac and cheese and other horrid things....
  • I feel strongly about the homemade food we are planning to use when we get to it, cloth diapers and other things (like tv). I agree with pp though, bf would be my make it or break it issue. DD will be only taking breastmilk until I can't produce or we hit at least 1 year. No formula unless my breasts decide to quit making milk. (I have NO hard feelings towrds anyone who has no choice though! :) )
  • Artificial sweeteners.  Not that it's something I (fortunately) have to worry about for a while ... but if anyone ever tries to give DD Koolaide with aspartame or something in it, I will likely loose it.  It's the one thing I am 100% completely paranoid about.
