XP: Wainscoting in a small nursery? WDYT?

I want to do wainscoting / beadboard similar to this in our nursery:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 It's a small room (9.5x10 feet) and DH is worried that this will make it look even smaller.  We will paint it the same color as the trim and baseboards (Barely Beige by Benjamin Moore) and the top half of the walls will be a light blue or green.

Do you think wainscoting like this will be too much in such a small room or would it look okay?

My DH installed it in my IL's spare bathroom... WAY smaller than your nursery. ?It looks fantastic! ?Just pick a paint color up top that's light enough to open the room up (which you've already done). ?I think the idea is adorable! ?Go for it!

No I've seen it in small bathrooms and it adds an architectural detail that makes the room more interesting and distracts from the size.  Besides 10 x 10 isn't really that small.  I would keep the colors light on the wainscoting and whatever you want on the top.  If you paint your ceiling a color that's a few shades lighter than your wall color or just a shade if your wall color is light it will make the space look bigger.

I think it will look adorable.  My oldest daughters room has it and its about 9x11 and looks super cute.

DH just finished beadboard in our 10x10 nursery, and it looks awesome. I know nothing about construction, and I was a little worried the room would seem smaller, but he said if he kept the board no higher than 3 ft, it'd be fine (and it is).

Our nursery is a small room too, 11x11, I believe.  We installed chair rail and painted below white (similar to wainscoting).  If anything, I think it made the room appear bigger, since it was bright white.

Ditto the previous posters!  We have wainscoting in our bathroom which is tiny.  The top is chocolate and it looks great and doesn't make the room small.
