Anyone tried the Stokke stroller?

I'm in love with it, and I think we're probably going to suck it up and spend the money to get it, but no store in a 200 mile radius carries a floor sample.  Has anyone tried it out?

I can't stand the look of most strollers, and this is the only one I really like, plus I love the idea of the baby being up high so that it can see what's going on around it, but I'm a little scared to spend all that money without trying it out.

Re: Anyone tried the Stokke stroller?

  • I haven't tried it, but the two concerns that I would have with that stroller are: (1) there is very little storage space on there; and (2) maybe this is ridiculous on my part, but I'd be worried that it's top-heavy and could tip over.  It might be worth asking about if you can track one down in a store.  GL!

  • it got awful reviews in Baby Bargains.
  • I just heard of it. How much does it cost? And does it have a carrier/car seat function like traditional travel systems do? I love the idea that it can be used as a high chair at restaurants

yeah, but the only reason it got bad reviews was bc its plastic and expensive.  Nothing in their review had to do with quality. and just about all the online user reviews are wonderful. So while I usually trust BB, nothing they said concerns me.

for the other poster,  It's about 1200 for the complete set (bassinet and seat) and it fits 3 of the top models of car seats, including the graco snugride.

As for storage, I don't really want a lot of storage, and I think that's one of the reasons I like it.  I think that's why I hate the look of so many strolllers, they just have so much stuff attached.  And from online reviews, people seem to think the detachable shopping bag is enough.

it just seems crazy to me to spend that much money on a stroller. especially since i didnt really end up using mine all that much.  we are getting the kolcraft contours in red. its a similar ( not exact) style, but alot cheaper.  i really like the look of some of those strolers, but i could never make myself pay that for something that probably wont get used that much. :)

we plan on using it as our only stroller, and we walk everywhere (so we'll use it a lot), and we have the money if we budget wisely, so its worth it for us. plus, it's one of the more eco-friendly strollers out there, which is really important to us.

but yeah, i know a lot of people don't get it.  to each his own.

  • We have the Stokke and LOVE it.  Yes, you can  use a car seat with it - you just have to  buy the adaptor for it.  They make different adaptors for different carseats.

They didn't sell one in the city we were living in at the time we bought it, either, but we did find one to try in Miami when we were on vacation there when I was pregnant.  It's terrific - SO easy to push with one hand and very comfy for baby.  Also, in response to someone's comment that there seems like very little storage...we find that the bag that sits underneath the seat has way more room in it then  you would think - we are able to fit a ton in there.  And the bag is much more accessible than the storage in traditional seats.

All in all we love it and think it is well worth the money!

Oh, one other note...we bought the whole system, including the bassinet.  To be honest, I don't know that buying the bassinet is worth it...we ended up using the car seat attachment a lot more.  Our daughter wasn't a huge fan of the bassinet attachment...she would start to fuss after a while, whereas she would sleep for long stretches in the carseat.  So, I think you could definitely save some $ and get away with just buying the carseat attachment and not the bassinet.
