2nd Trimester

Nose bleeds...ugh help!

Okay, so I just stated that I love the second trimester because of the baby movements and more energy but I will have to add in a negative!

I just had my second nosebleed today!  I have a fan going in my room because it gets hot at night for me even with the AC on.  I know this will cause dry air but I have to have it on or else I will feel as if I am "burning in hell".  What can help me with this because I hate to get a nosebleed!  It takes too much time out of my schedule, well nap time or dinner time Stick out tongue, for me to deal with it.  I heard that humidifiers are good for getting rid of dry air, but should I get one if it is not really going to help a pregnant-woman's-extra-blood-flow-to-her-nose if it's not going to help in the end.  AGH!

  • Yeah I pretty much wake up every morning with dried blood in my nose =/  It's no good.

  • I have had frequent nosebleeds since I have been pregnant.  My nose always feels dry.  I usually have one like 3 or 4 times a week.  I got a humidifier but it was a cheap one and didnt do much good.  Saline nasal spray is supposed to help too. It's just a salt water solution and I am pretty sure my OB recommends it.  I would try the saline spray first, its cheaper!

  • Honestly, I tried running humidifiers with previous pregnancies and it didn't help my nosebleeds.  :(

  • I hear ya.  I've had nosebleeds and bloody boogies for most of 2nd tri.  Not fun.
  • I had the worst nose bleeds in the first trimester, but being in New Mexico (dry heat), with a fan on all night with the windows open means I have frequent nose bleeds.  The best things I've found to help are drinking LOTS of water--nose bleeds are a sign on dehydration, and putting a little vitamin E oil in each nostril before bed.  It will help keep the mucus membranes moist and healthy.  When we have the windows closed I use a humidifier, and that helps a lot.

  • I am having nosebleeds every day as well, but mine are actually exacerbated by low blood pressure. You may want to get your blood pressure checked if you haven't done so already, especially if you have had any dizziness or fainting.

  • I was just about to post something similar. I've had dried blood for over a week, and today I had my first nosebleed. We sleep with the a/c on all night, so that doesn't help.

It's good to know I'm not the only one, but it sucks to know it's going to last so long. Yikes!

  • I have never had a nosebleed until I got pregnant! It's so frustrating, I feel like it's really nasty up there!
