Another milk ?

it's only recommended to give 18-24 oz daily correct?

Water or juice too?

Re: Another milk ?

  • I just give water. Juice is nothing but sugar that fills them up with empty calories, and DD is skinny enough. I need that girl to eat real food. I thought it was a 16 oz. milk limit????

  • i am/was very confused about this. there was a post the other day and i missed what everyone else was saying.

i never heard the 'limit' before. pedi never said anything. dd drinks a gallon every other day! so around 40oz give or take a day. i never thought this was too much. she gets 3 or more bottles with 8-10 oz a day...

i am interested in hearing everyone elses opinion.

    thanks for posting!

  • My pedi advised 16-20oz. Too much milk can interfere with iron absorbtion, and iron is critical at this age for brain development. Adam drinks around 24oz so I try to counteract it with foods high in iron and vitamin C. Vitamin C helds with iron absorbtion.
  • We were told 12-24 oz, not a single oz more.  DD still can't have milk so she's still on Alimentum.  We do 3 bottles of 8 oz of water (which really makes about 9 oz formula), but we're trying to switch the midday bottle to a cup, and she's only been drinking about 4 oz before she throws the cup & won't drink any more.

  • I was told 16oz of whole milk a day is the limit.. As for juice my dr said she doesn't think you should give them juice, unless it's pear juice for constipation. You can give them water. Just as long as they are filling up on regular foods, rather than drinks :)
