Re: Question about GD testing

  • if it's positive, you have to check your blood sugar 4x a day, eat a special diet, and possibly take a medicine. If it's not positive now, they may still have you take it again. If your 1 hour test is over 140, you will probably have to take the 3 hour test... unless you are like me and fail so spectacularly that the 3 hour test isn't needed! Good luck

  • you drink a super sugary drink (usually it's the orange one and it kind of tastes like flat orange soda, only much sweeter) then they draw your blood after an hour.  that's it!

if you fail that one, they make you do it again only you drink more quanity of the sugary drink and they draw your blood 4x - once before you drink the drink (fasting #)  then once each hour for 3 hours.  if you fail that, then you've got GD.

  • Ditto the other posters. Also, if you do have GD and you control it with diet and/or drugs, your baby will be fine! Don't worry too much!

    p.s. I LOVE your baby's name!?
