baby name boy #3

DH and I are having a hard time picking a name for our third son, due in November.  We like the name Colin, but my baby name book says that it is a short form of Nicholas, which is our oldest's name.  Would this be a bad choice or confusing?   I have never heard of anyone named Nicholas who was called Colin.  Our middle boy's name is Jacob, so it is not similar if that makes a difference.  TIA for your thoughts/opinions.

I would NEVER have associated the two names. Ever. lol (Maybe "Cole" for Nicholas. Maybe.)

I think all three names have the hard "K" sound so they go well together!

I like that name, but prefer it spelled Collin.

I think it might depend on what religion you are. If you're Catholic or Orthodox, your two sons will have the same patron saint, which might matter to them (particularly if you celebrate their feast days). But otherwise, they don't seem similar enough not to go with Colin. Good luck!

I would have never guessed that Colin was a NN for Nicholas.  Never.  I think you'd be ok with that name.

I'd go with Collin.  Since you don't call your oldest Colin, I think you'll be okay.

We are naming our 4th boy,Colin!! I love it.Never heard of it as a nickname for Nicholas. We also have a Shane,an Aidan and a Dylan!
