We are new to formula and I'm quite sticker shocked at the price of Enfamil and Similac - even at Costco! I compared the Kirkland's brand nutritional values and it doesn't seem to be that much different. What are your thoughts?

We solely used Costco's formula. Our daycare provides all his formula while he is there as long as he uses that kind. He's been good on it. I can't believe how much we spend on formula and we get one that is less expensive and daycare provides a good portion of it.
We switched to the Sam's Club brand (Members Mark) and have had no problems. Infant formula is highly regulated, so as long as you LO likes it, it should be fine.

Carson Henry, born 39w, 2d, via emergency c/s due to no fetal movement and fetal distress. Seizures, IVH grade 2, brain injury, kidney and liver damage. Complete blood clot in the artery in his right arm. 27 days in the NICU. Now discharged from all specialists, excepts his kidney doctor, who will monitor him indefinitely. My tough little cookie.
We have been using the Walmart brand formula since DS was 6 weeks old. Pedi said it was perfectly fine and there is really no difference between it and Similac. It cut our formula costs in half each month.
We switched from Good Start to HEB (local grocery chain) when he was 6 or 7mos. We just couldn't take $25 per can every 3 days. Wyeth Pharmeceuticals makes most of the generic formulas - Target, HEB, Kirkland's at Costco, Wal-Mart, Kroger, Albertson's, etc. I found it on their website once but now I can't find it again to post.
ETA: This isn't the URL I saw before but it has the same info:
