Re: BR HELP!

  • do you have any projects like crocheting or hand sewing that you can do.  it would be a great time  to make something for baby.

  • My best friend has been on bed rest for a week now and she is 11 weeks pregnant.  She has a TV in her room, along with her computer, books, magazines.  I call her as frequently as I can.  She is only allowed to get up and go to the bathroom and then she has to go straight back to bed.  She's not even allowed to totally sit up for more than a few minutes.  She is bored out of her mind and feels completely helpless.

I don't really know what to tell you though except good luck.  You know you're on bed rest for a good reason and try and make the best of it.  Just try and change things up with tv, books, computer...I wish you the best!

  • Use this time to read all the baby books and other books that have been on your to-read list.

Catch up on shows you've missed by renting seasons from the movie store or from the library.

    ...?

I don't know what I would do if I was on BR and hope I don't have to find out.  Sorry you've got this hurdle to deal with.

  • My suggestion if you don't already have it.  Get Netflix.  We get three movies at a time as many in a month as we want.  It's going to get old watching TV/movies, but there isn't much that you can do.  Try to make the best of it.  I know that's probably the last thing you want to hear.  What about making a scrapbook for the baby?

  • Do you have a pregnancy journal?

How about starting a scrap book for baby? I made one for my BFF and decorated and colored and left open pages, etc. Look online and do some ordering!!

  • You could start up a craft project, or sewing/knitting like pp said.  Read books and magazines.  Movies/tv.  Call family or friends you havent talked to in a while.  If you have a laptop you could do all sorts of stuff on the internet...start up a blog, research nursery ideas and registry ideas.  Paint your nails.  Goodluck!!!

  • How about getting some of your favorite tv series on Netflix?  My personal favorite is Arrested Development (no idea if you'd find it funny... it's pretty oddball), but you could think about doing one of the looooong series like Sopranos or Lost or Desperate Housewives.

I'm sorry you're on BR, by the way.  That has to be difficult.  Hoping it achieves the right result... a healthy and long-lasting pregnancy!

  • Some things that have kept me sane during my weeks of BR:

Reading books & The newspaper (I subscribe now)

    crossword puzzles, word search puzzles

my laptop - internet games, facebook, the bump, etc.

    crocheting projects

planning meals, searching for new recipe ideas online

watching movies & tv (gets boring fast i know)

writing out task lists for my house (ie: what needs to be done for baby's room, home renos, etc)

doing little things that take no effort: sorting the mail that piled up etc.

writing snail mail letters to friends for fun

  • I would stock up on movies and books that you haven't had the time to watch or read until now. I also suggest some sort of project like scrap booking, sewing, knitting, etc. Good luck!

  • Wow!  I'm sorry!  Just keep remembering you're doing it for your baby (and I'm sure you know that.)

My mom was on bed rest in the hospital for 4 weeks (6 years ago with twins.)  She had lots and lots of movies, and pretty much every day my dad would bring her new magazines or handheld video games.  They also played cards (and even UNO.)  I don't know if you have anyone who can come hang out with you, but I'm sure if you have close friends or family nearby, they'd love to keep you company!  Have them bring movies or games (or dessert.)
