CD sizes- can BG and FB fit newborn?

To those of you already CDing, I have a size question so I can get our supply ready before LO comes in Sept.

Both BG OS and Fuzzi Bunz Perfect Fit (size Small) claim to fit an 8lb baby.  Will they really fit a newborn?  Perhaps with an extra doubler?

Or should I get a few Fuzzi Bunz XS to start out the first few weeks?

I also have prefolds and covers that i'm fine using but want my husband to have a simpler diaper at the beginning since he's never changed a diaper period.

Re: CD sizes- can BG and FB fit newborn?

  • Honestly, no.  I'm sure there are a few exceptions but for the most part OS diapers won't fit until around 12lbs.

  • I tried a BG on my 9lb baby yesterday. It looked like it might be ok, but he leaked all over DH's lap. Not even close to snug enough!

We're sticking with KL0s and prefolds for another couple pounds.

Also, my husband LOVES the prefolds. He shows them off to all his friends. He started out just tri-folding the prefolds and laying them the cover. He watched me use a snappi a few times and thought it was too complicated. Then he had to change 3 diapers in a row that got poop on the cover. Now he's way into the prefolds with the snappi.

  • We Started using our BG when she got to about 8.5 lbs. No leaks ever. She had really skinny legs too.
