Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Proof our dog is now the red-headed stepchild.

DH and I are going to an OOT wedding this weekend.  Have known for months.  Lined up my mom to watch DS 2 months ago.  We leave tomorrow at 6am.  It dawned on me this morning that Idea oops, we never remembered to make an appt for Baxter at the doggie daycare/boarders.

Our usual place (that is $32/nt, ahem) was totally booked.  So were the other 20 places I called.  Finally this place that sounds very rinky-dink on the phone had an opening so I guess he'll be there for the weekend.  What's worse is that they don't offer a weekend pickup until 5:30pm on Monday, so if it sucks he's there much longer than he needs to be.  I feel awful.

  • ahem!  *is a red headed step child*

since the place sounds rinky dink and has late pick up, can you try for an in home?  get a rec for a petsitter from your vet?

  • Lol. Poor Baxter.

I'm sure the place you found will be fine. It does suck that you can't pick him up earlier though.

Then again for that he may never forgive you.

  • Can your mom watch your dog, too?
  • As a redheaded step child myself, I take offense.  ;)
  • OK, found one that sounds decidedly less rinky-dink, and while they also don't have Sunday hours we can pick him up Monday morning.  Feel much better.  Plus if this place is good it will be our default boarder rather than the place he's been (they're awesome, but when we were gone for 6 days their bill was as much as our flights, ack).

  • hurrah!  it's nerve wracking to leave the other babies in strange places.
  • Glad you found a better alternative. My dog goes to daycare twice a week. He's been going since he was 6 months old. We are going away next weekend with DD and I totally forgot to make an appointment. Luckily they were able to squeeze us in. I'm glad because our pooch has seperation anxiety and would freak out if I took him somewhere new.
