i am getting so sick of people saying oh, dont buy all that you'll get everything you need at your baby shower. UM no, if i thought i wouldn't have to buy all this stuff, i wouldn't. my family doesnt have alot of money, and our baby showers aren't gift orientated, its a baby celebration. its not anyone elses job to by my baby stuff.

its nice when people are fortunate enough to get everything they need at their showers, but that just isn't the case for me. i dont get why people dont understand that im not haivng a huge baby shower, IF one at all.

I think people usually expect too much from their showers. Most of the time people are venting about how they didn't get much of what they need at their shower and will now have to go buy it. Most people like to buy cute outfits etc. It is just wise to plan to make the major purchases yourself and then be pleasantly surprised if others offer to do so.

I think they're just trying to be helpful and hope to help you save money. I"d just let people know thanks, but I know what I'm doing!

MIL was upset that we bought furniture. Umm who's going to buy us a crib, and why would I want to wait that long??

I don't really expect to get loaded up at my shower either. I registered for items that are about $20 or less because I kept my friends and family in mind. They are in Michigan and the Detroit-Area economy isn't so hot. I have a few $20+ items, but if no one gets them for me, I am happy to buy them myself.

I feel the same way that you do about people not having the responsibility to buy your baby something. I'm just happy to see my friends who I haven't seen in awhile.
