Longer nursing sessions at 3-5 weeks?

My DS used to just eat for 20-30 minutes on one side until about a week ago.  Now he takes almost an hour and eats on both sides!  Since he wants to eat every 2 hours, this only gives me about an hour between feedings.  During the night, though, he stretches this out.  What gives?

ETA: Not all of this time is spent actually eating... he's a big-time comfort sucker.

My guess is that he's hit that 5/6 week growth spurt. ?He'll probably space it out again eventually, but it sounds like he's upping your supply. ?

I was also going to say probably a growth spurt.  It was awful when my babies went through that.  I would have like 20 minutes free between feedings b/c one would eat, then the other, then the first one was ready again.  It was awful!
