So, there's this little grandmotherly lady who is our AA in my office. I should be grateful for her, and sometimes I am. Today she asked me how I was doing. I said, "I feel bad because DH is at home moving and he's feeling so bad. I wish I could be there for him and help him and put things away and" blah blah... She said, "OH no! You CAN'T! You can't lift your arms up over your head or the cord will get wrapped around the baby's neck!"
What? Talk about an old wives tale. This makes no sense medically. I almost just did jumping jacks right there in the office in front of her because this made me so mad!
Plus, she's totally old-school sexist, and this drives me mad, too. I feel like she really thought that it's the "man's job" to do the moving...
I know I'm totally hormonal and oversensitive... which is why I'm venting here.
Re: Grrrrrr... unsolicited advice
I have two of those in my office. I know how you feel, I just do things when they aren't looking so they don't tell me stuff like that..haha.
If they only knew the things I lifted when they were not around.
Hope you have a great afternoon!
I believe my grandmother believes that one too. My mom told me she once yelled at her for raising her arm lol.
I've been told that I'm not supporting my boobs enough and they're gonna sag. (while wearing a strapless bra and dress) Thanks right! lol
