Paci keeper question

Do you use a paci keeper to keep your DC's paci attached to them? If so, how do you clean them? I have been washing mine with soap and water in the sink and letting them dry on the drying rack, but they seem to get grungy pretty fast. Do you just replace yours frequently?

Re: Paci keeper question

  • I don't use one because I had read to avoid them since it could be a choking/strangulation hazard. We just have pacifiers laying everywhere around the house so it's always easy to grab one!
  • We also don't use one because of the choking issue (more DH than me was worried and I was tired of listening), and when I did try the hard part always pressed up on her when I held her. All around I didn't like it. We also just keep them laying around.

Have you tried just throwing it in your washing machine? That might work!

  • We only use them while out so that if they fall, they don't fall on the ground.  I just wash mine with soap and water in the sink too.  Mine don't seem yucky though.  I guess we don't use them all that much.

That's a good idea to just use them while out. It never fails that every clean paci I have with me gets dropped on the ground within a few minutes while we're out somewhere!

  • I usually take it off when he is sleeping b/c the choking hazard worries me too. But it seems like as much as he spits the paci out we need it during the day. They aren't expensive so I guess I could always get a couple more. Thanks for the FB!
  • We also only use them when we are out and not at home so they dont get too nasty. We just wash it with soap and water.

  • When Brooks had one, I just tossed it in the washer on delicate and let it air dry.
