Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

toddler keen shoes?

My DS has very wide feet - we have been getting him stride rites until now, but he also plays so hard outside that the stride rites haven't held up super well - after about two months, he usually has the sole separating from the shoe.  (And for a $50 kids shoe, I think they should at least make it until the kid outgrows it!)  I looked at the keens, and they seem really wide.  I also like the rubber toe - seems like it would protect the toes and help the shoes hold up longer.  Has anyone bought these for their little ones?  I'd love some feedback!

Re: toddler keen shoes?

  • I'm sorry, I don't have any feedback but I was looking into these for DS so I'm interested in what others might have to say.

  • I bought a pair in a size larger than the shoe she is in now, so she hasn't actually worn them yet but I have heard nothing but good things about them from several of my mom friends.  Apparently they hold up extremely well to toddler abuse.  I know that my adult keens in the same style are going on 3 years of heavy hiking (minus ~1 yr for late pregnancy/early infanthood).

  • I bought a pair at Nordstrom for DS.  They have held up very well so far.  The soles are rugged and not quite as flexible as DS's other shoes so I waited until he was much better at walking to put them on.  They do have a wide toe box but I notice that they leave marks on the tops of his feet because they are otherwise snug (although lengthwise I'd say true to size).  They're good for the beach and pool since it doesn't matter if they get wet.

    Hope that helps!
