Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Your DC's personality

They say a person's personality starts to emerge during toddlerhood.?
What kind of personality do you foresee your DC possessing as an adult?

I see Quentin as one of those people that will be well-liked because he will be really social and outgoing. He also comes across as someone that has confidence (maybe a bit of arrogance), and speaks his point of view (what he wants in life).?
He also is a decent listener and problem-solver already, so I could see him in some sort of technical field that requires in depth knowledge.

DD is shy at first, but is spirited once she's comfortable.    She is passive in nature unless someone is messing with her, then she can be quite aggressive.  I actually like this because she's not a bully, yet she doesn't put up with other's bullyness (is that a word?).  She mostly plays independently, but she likes to play with others too.

  • Nicholas is hard to pin down exactly but I have seen some traits emerging.

He's definitely fearless and will probably be first in line for the tallest and fastest roller coaster.

He also analyzes things, loves to watch things work and pays attention to details. Hopfully that will be helpful in school and it seems that he's a quick learner, he picks things up really fast.

I'm pretty sure he's going to be very outgoing and friendly with most everybody, he's not afraid of people.

He's atheletic already - kicking balls, trying to catch balls, throwing balls. I'm almost 100% positive he'll be in some type of sports.

  • A stunt man? Marathon runner? Professional stair climber?

I see someone who really enjoys making people laugh . And I hope he starts to calm down and his concentration grows because if not, he'll have an awful temper and will be rather high-strung.

Same with Quentin! We have a couple little athletes in the making. : )?

  • Hailey is a social butterfly.  She likes being around a bunch of people and she loves giving hugs and kisses.  She's also very independent.  She wants to do her thing and she doesn't want help.  She has a very strong personality and she's very silly.

Yes, I'm hoping so. That's my retirement plan! Wink

    Hahaha!?

I had a dream the other night that Quentin was a football player for Ohio State, and just won the National Championship. I was one of those proud moms with a button of him in his jersey attached to my sweater and holding a sign that said "Go Q, Beat Blue!" (Blue is Michigan). It was a great dream. ?: )?

  • I have a quiet observer that is very slow to warm up to people. In other words, I have a mini-me.

  • Well I think DD is going to be a straight up Diva! Where she gets it from I have no clue because I am certainly not a Diva. I also fear that if someone looks at her the wrong way she is going to start a fight with them. She is very moody and tempermental. She expects things her way and when she wants it she better get it or else. She gets that from her Auntie!

  • I see so much in his personality.

First of all he is a real social kid and he has this laugh that gets a whole room laughing.

All boy.  He loves anything boy related.  Rough housing, sports, being dirty, laughs when he passes gas. The list goes on.

He is a thinker in new situations and likes to sit back and take it all in before "making his move".

Right now he really has a temper and I am hoping this is just out of frustration and he isn't like that when he gets older.

  • He's outgoing and a ham.  He's mostly laid back, but has a stubborn streak a mile and a half long.

  • Ben is extremely social.  When we're out in public, he is always waving to people and blowing them kisses.  With friends and family, he's also very affectionate.  He's also very funny.  If he does something and sees that he gets a laugh/reaction from you, he totally milks it and keeps going.  It's hilarious.  He's pretty easy going for the most part, but also can have a bit of a temper at times.  He's definitely all boy.  He loves trucks, dinosaurs and balls.  He loves animals.  While it's still way too early to tell what he'll do for a career, it wouldn't surprise me that he winds up doing something related with animals.

They say a person's personality starts to emerge during toddlerhood.

I think that's bunk.  They are born with their personality, which is either built up or torn down.

K is a little mama.  She's very nurturing, sweet, tender very sensitive, kind.  She's a good sharer and she likes to play quietly with her babies.  She likes for me to swaddle them and then she rocks them, gives them her sippy cup, etc, same with other kids and our dogs.

She's such a little sweetie-pie, but she's as independent as all get out.  She doesn't let H or I help her with ANYTHING, she can do it herself!  She's serious, but also a little joker.  She's also very logical and a problem solver.

  • DD is shy but easygoing.  She's not terribly particular about her surroundings as long as you let her do her thing.  She tends to daydream a lot, and is slow to react to other kids (you took my toy? what should I do? hmm, let's think about this).

Once she's warmed up to a new situation, she's a huge laugher.  She sees humor in many things, and her belly laugh can reduce a room of adults to giggles.  She's also a thrill-seeker who loves physical challenge and isn't afraid of much.

I always think of her as my little surfer, deeply intense, but also kind and gentle and mellow.

  • Stubborn and independent.  He knows what he wants and can do everything by himself.  He's sometimes shy in large groups but in smaller groups he's high fiving everyone and talking to people..  He's scared of things at first (like the pool, dogs, going on the subway) but once he realizes it's fun, wants to do it non-stop until I drag him away kicking and screaming.

Oh-crap.  I think I need to adopt #2.  I don't think I could take another mini-me.  I didn't even realize how much he was like me until I just wrote that out!

I think he'll be "the good kid".  While he's independent, he is very into following rules and following timelines.  He normally does what he's told (unless the stubborness kicks in).  He loves saying uh-oh when someone makes a mistake and tries to help them fix it.  So maybe he'll be a doctor or someone who helps people?  I could live with that!

  • Independent, stubborn, outgoing & observant. He wants no help with anything, if you try to help him with something he'll push you away and try to do it himself.  He'll come to you if he needs help. He's also outgoing, he'll hug strangers, go up to random people on the beach and smile.  He's also observant, always has been, he doesn't miss anything. Trying to hide a bag of goldfish is impossible, he'll watch you like a hawk to see where that bag goes.
