Any use a travel swing?

We are looking to get a travel swing for when we move for the baby. ?I have a gift card from Babys R Us and I think thats what we'll use it for. Any recommendations? ?We are looking to maybe get the Boppy Rock in Comfort, but the reviews are pretty mixed.

Re: Any use a travel swing?

  • We have the Fisher-Price Rainforest Travel Swing that I got on clearance(I think now it's the Precious Planet) and LOVE it. It stays upstairs and the bigger swing stays downstairs, but I was actually just tihnking of putting the big swing away because it takes up so much room and our house is so small and the travel swing is so convenient to be able to move around when we need to. We have an older version of the same thing for Amelia that we left with BIL&SIL to not have to move it and that did the job perfectly for us, too! The Boppy one looks like basically the same exact thing as far as size and function, so I'd go for it!
  • We used the Rainforest travel swing with Caitlin and LOVED it.  In fact, she seemed to prefer that swing to her big swing for awhile.  The only problem we ran into was once she got a little bigger, she would try to sit up and since the swing only had buckles over the legs, she could lean forward and that would make the swing tip forward......so after that we just switched over the the bog swing.  But she loved it and it was very helpful for the first few months.

  • We have the boppy swing and loved it. We got it because we just didn't have room for a regular swing. It folded up very nicely and easily to be put aside when not in use.  I would agree that you can't use it as long, perhaps - once DD started trying to sit up she got frustrated since it is more cradling.  However, we never had a bouncy seat so the swing was pretty much just a replacement for that. By the time she outgrew the swing, she was big enough for the exersaucer.

We had the rainforest one at the babysitter, which was also good.

  • We couldn't decide between a swing and a bouncer.  I had heard that some babies like one or the other.  So after a lot of thought, we decided to purchase a bouncer, and then just by luck, I was given a travel swing as a hand-me-down.  We LOVED the travel swing.  I could move it from room to room, and when my son was little, he took almost all of his naps in the swing.  So I would recommend any swing, but especially a travel swing since it is easy to move.
