Help! Blood pressure ok?

After reviewing my book from the dr's so far, I've realized my blood pressure has increased what I think is a lot since the beginning. I've googled it, but I'm wanting to know if this happens to many people?? My numbers are:

 May 6: 108/67

 May 27: 119/80

June 20: 130/75

July 20: 132/76

That's quite a jump from May to July. I'll definitely ask my doctor about it when I go next week, but did this happen to anyone else? How can I help keep it lower? My doctor hasn't mentioned any concerns about it before, but I get worried something like this would get overlooked, or not mentioned, as my doctors/nurses 2nd language is English and they all seem nervous to have an English speaking patient. I can't wait to come back to the USA and get health care I'm a little more comfortable with!

Re: Help! Blood pressure ok?

  • i dont think 130/75 is too high.  but it is a spike from 108.  my mom has high blood pressure but she takes medication for it. a simple way to help keep it down is to lower your salt intake, hope this helps!

  • Your blood pressure will go up during pregnancy- it is a result of all of the extra blood in your body. While the top numbers have gone up considerably for you, the bottom numbers have barely moved, which is good (only went from 67 to 76). I had pregnancy-induced hypertension that developed into pre-e with my first preg. My dr did not become really concerned until my bp went over 150/90- I was told any number over 90 on the bottom was concerning.
  • I was 140/80 on Mon at my appointment and my doctor was pretty concerned. I think mostly because it was such a big jump and it was a fairly stress free day for me. I would just make sure you discuss it with your doctor.

  • I've been 114/70 at every doctor's appointment until the most recent, at which I was 124/84.  I was concerned b/c I've never had high bp before but my doctor was not.  She of course will continue to monitor it and said if I ever have 3 readings over 130/90, then she'll consider it "a problem."
  • Thanks everyone! I feel a little more at ease about it now, but will still ask the doc next week. You're awesome!
