Pregnant after a Loss

Any thoughts?? I am a nervous wreck right now...

So... I have a tendency to research myself into a deep hole in regards to pregnancy/miscarriage information (online).... but here is what I am genuinely freaking out about... positive thoughts/re-assurance/concerns 100% welcome.

I had my first OB appointment at 6 weeks 4 days... there was a heartbeat and a swear I heard the OB say it was 75 beats/minute... that it was low... but he was not concerned... The OB gave me the option to have another u/s before my NT scan (which I am going to on 8/7)... but he left it up to me...

So... of course I have read all these statistics on what a "normal" heart rate is this early in the pregnancy... and even found a medical report that said 90% of pregnancies with a heart rate between 70-80 BPM end in miscarriage. ::gulp::  ::deep breath::  ::sigh::

Any thoughts/experiences??

TIA

  • Remember that the heart had probably JUST started working right about when you went in for your u/s.  It takes a while for it to get up to speed, and then if I am not mistaken, it starts to slow down a bit later in the pg.

If it was something to be worried about I am sure the dr would have pushed more.  ::positive vibes and thoughts your way::

  • I never got to see my babies' heart rate before I miscarried, so I don't have any experience to share. I know this may not sound helpful, but it's helping me when I start to worry...You cannot do anything about it right now. Whatever the outcome, it's already on its path. I'm sure your little bean is fine, and if your OB isn't concerned, you shouldn't be either. Step away from google and go browse BabiesRUs or something. :)

  • Did anything else look abnormal on the ultrasound?  Otherwise, I am sure everything is just fine.  Like the PP mentioned it is so early and baby's heart is just begining to beat. I know how scary it is though.  All you can do is wait and pray.  Big hugs and keep your chin up!

This is exactly the attitude I'm taking during this pregnancy and I'm so much calmer this time around.  Knowing that no amount of worrying will change an outcome somehow puts me more at peace.

    Step away from google ;-)

This is such a great way to look at things loves.  I'm going to try that!

    LOL!

I just wanted to add that a lot of the things you read on google do not specify the gestational age of the study.  Therefore, it may indicate a m/c is the h/r is between 70-80 bpm at 9 weeks, but maybe not so during the 6th week when the heart just starts beating.  That being said, I personally would go for another u/s maybe during the 8th week, just for peace of mind.  Good luck!!
