Needing prayers for good results

So I am new here and not even sure if this is the right board however I decided to post here. Anyway, my quad screen came back slightly abnormal. It showed that I have a 1:206 risk of having a baby with an open neural tube defect (i.e. spina bifida). The results should be 1:300 or better. I am a nurse in a pediatric intensive care unit so I see sick kids all the time and I am totally freaked out!!! I don't have my Level II u/s until Aug 7th (earliest available appt with the specialist). Guess I am wanting some advise, reassurance, prayers, etc.

 Thanks.

Definitely sending you prayers and well wishes.  There are some great ladies on this board and you are definitely in the right place for some comfort and support.  It stinks that they can't get you in until Aug 7th, I know you must be so worried right now.  1 in 206 is still a very very low chance so try and think positive..I know it has to be hard.  Come here to vent or whatnot, we are here for you.  Remember, the likelihood of something like this being wrong is soooooo very slim.

I hate you have to wait so long to see your specialist!  I know you are so worried. I do not have any experience like that but wanted to wish you luck and will keep you in my prayers!

I had a similar experience. The test came back 1:4 for spina bifida. They did the level II, but ruled out spina bifida due to no physical markers (thank God!)

However, babies who have high AFP results like mine sometimes have a slightly higher chance of heart, kidney, or placenta problems. Your MFM will probably have you in for follow-up u/s to make sure the baby's growing on schedule. I start going weekly to the MFM this week for u/s. Right now they have discovered that her right kidney is SLIGHTLY larger than the left, but they don't expect this to be an issue at all.

Also, they found that my baby has a 2 vessel umbilical cord - not anything to be alarmed about - but I'm wondering if high AFP's are common is 2 vessel babies.
