PLEASE HELP Question about adding a pumping session

I need to get more milk for my LO for day care.  I currently do this schedule:

 5:30 a.m. -- nurse
8:30 a.m. -- pump
12 p.m - pump
3 p.m. - pump
5:30 p.m. -  nurse
8:00 p.m. -- nurse

LO STTN.  If i start pumping after the 5:30 feeding, will it take a while for me to get anything?  Should I do it an hour after?  I tried this before and got nothing, but will it take a few days?  Also, should I consider adding a 4th pump during the day at work? Again, will it take a few days for anything to happen?  Pumping immediately after a feeding hasn't done anything for me.

I was also considering waking up at night to pump, but I did this before, and again got nothing -- does this also take a few days?  And what time should I do it?  Sorry for all the questions but I do NOT want to supplement.

Re: PLEASE HELP Question about adding a pumping session

  • It will at least take a couple of days before you start getting much with an added session.  You're more likely to get more and faster if you do it during the night but when you're working it's not fun getting up at night to pump, but that's when you'll get your fastest result if you're in need for something quick.

  • So do you think getting up at 1 a.m. would be a good time?
