Apparently I get to be a "real" mom!!

According to my MIL anyway. I am telling you she has the worst case of diarrhea of the mouth I have ever come across.

I tell her she doesnt need to watch DD tomorrow because I am off today & tomorrow instead of today & Friday. She comments that it will be nice for me to finally have 2 days off in a row. I respond "yea its been awhile since i have had 2 days off in a row" and then it happens.... she says "awwww you get to be a real mom for the next 2 days!!"

I'm sorry...WTF is that supposed to mean? REAL moms dont work? So I am not a REAL mom because I do work? I really want to believe she didnt mean it that way (hence the diarrhea of the mouth) but she does this all the time so I am beginning to think she doesnt actually have diarrhea of the mouth, she is just passively aggressively trying to let me know she disapproves of working moms. And that working moms are not REAL moms. She can bite me.

Why does this double standard exist? Somehow I find it hard to imagine that someone would ever challenge that a man is a "real" father because they work FT.
