Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Car seat ladies..... I need advice.

We currently have 2 Marathons (one unopened) and a Roundabout. Our Roundabout has 2 years of life left, one Marathon has 5 and the other 6 still. However, I recently fell in love with the Boulevard. I had never tried one out before, because I have found such great deals on our Marathons ($135 and $195). I took DD to BRU today to check one out, and now I want one (or two). DD just looks so much safer and honestly more comfortable.

So, my question is... What would you do? Should I keep the seats I have? Or try and sell all 3 (and an extra cover) on craigslist and buy 2 Boulevards?

I can get 2 of them at $219 (each) plus free shipping.

  • We have the Boulevard and love it.  I would sell the ones you have and get at least one Blvd.  The Blvd is a big seat though, so make sure it works in your car first.

  • Ugh.  Well, I have 1 Mar. and 1 Blvd, and the Blvd. is far superior.

But that is almost 450$.  That's a lot of $.

I would probably keep my Marathons unless I really, truly had the 450.

I personally don't feel comfortable buying, and therefore selling, a used carseat.

  • Wow that is a lot of carseats. If your DD is comfortable and safe in the one(s) she has now why spend more money?  I only have one carseat because we never take DD in my DH's truck.  I don't see the need for two carseats, let alone three or even five.

I wouldn't keep all 5. That would be ridiculous. I bought the 2nd Marathon because it was an awesome deal at $195, and DD will outgrown her Roundabout (rear-facing) by 2. I would rather not turn her forward facing then, so I will need a seat with a higher rear-facing height limit.

So, I will either keep the 2 Marathons and sell the Roundabout, or I will sell all 3 and get 2 Boulevards.

We can't get by on 1 seat, so that is definitely not an option.

  • IMO I would just stick with what you have.  I agree with PP that if I don't feel comfortable buying a used carseat I wouldn't be comfortable selling one.  You could sell the one still in the box but then you would still have four carseats.

  • is there one car you use more than the other?  maybe sell the unopened marathon in the box and buy one boulevard.  put the boulevard in the car you use most?  then, if you really love it that much more, you can get a second boulevard if you really need it down the line.
