Parenting after a Loss

I am bereaved.:-(

My closest friend here in LA is leaving on Friday. She has decided to move back East to be closer to her family. I am so sad...particularly because I know that it is in part because we now have kids and I haven't been able to spend as much time with her in the past few months. She is single and I know she feels that Mr. Skat and I (as well as our other closest friend, who also recently had a baby) are "moving on without her." Ironically, from our POV it feels like the other way around!

I of course don't blame her..she has her life and goals to pursue and we will of course keep in close touch, but I am still heartbroken. It's that sadness you always feel when another chapter in your life comes to an end.

Good friends, friends who really know you and understand you and still like you anyway are so hard to come by in this life.  I don't really have a point to this post except to say, if you have a friend like that, tell them how much you appreciate them!

  • Aw, I'm sorry! My BFF is 3 hours away and that is hard enough, much less the other coast. ((hugs))

  • Awe S that sucks! Makes me think about my one friend who is that person for me and how devastated I'd be if she moved away. Never even thought about how she might feel if I moved away! Sure makes you think. (((Hugs)))

  • I am so sorry : (  It is really hard when good friends move away.  When DH's best friends moved away, he was devastated.  ::hugs::

  • i'm sorry skat.  as someone with a dwindling IRL friend base i feel your pain.  might i suggest this would be a good time to move back east, specifically to the boston area?  ;)

Don;t think I haven't thought about it, May! My other best friend lives in Somerville. I don't think we could afford it though..I think its more expensive than LA!

i doubt that.  we've ruled out moving to the west coast because we can't afford it there!  granted we don't live in the city....
