Photography ladies. A question.

I know there are a few of you on here who maybe can answer my question. I took some picture in camera raw yesterday and cannot figure out how to open them in photoshop. Do I have to open them using the software I got with the camera and transfer them as a JPEG?

I hope someone can help me b/c I LOVE the pics I took and can't figure this out!!

Re: Photography ladies. A question.

  • What Photoshop do you have? Sometimes you have to download a RAW plugin depending on what version you have
  • Loading the player...
  • I have PS/CS2. As I type, I am trying to download adobe DNG Converter but it's not working. I guess my only other option is to get CS4? IDK this is so confusing.
  • I'm pretty sure there's a plug in you need to d/l from Adobe's site (free) to get CS to read them.  However, I've been trying this with my CS3 and my Mac for months and it won't work.

I use Gimp to edit now and it opens my RAW files with no problems whatsoever.  Plus it's easy to use, pretty powerful (for what I need) and Free!  :)

It won't work with my CS2 either! It's giving me this message, "installer integrity check has failed. common causes include incomplete download and damaged media. contact the installers autor to obtain a new copy."

Is this why it wouldn't work for you either? I am guessing we have to have CS4 or something.

I never even get an error!  All I get is "Photoshop can not access this type of file." or some crap like that.  Bunch of crap if you ask me.

  • Adobe released a little plugin called Camera Raw back in 2003, later versions of Photoshop had this integration out of the box.  You can go to Adobe's website to download the plugin or click this link which will take you to the download page, I wasn't sure if you used a Mac or PC so this link to Adob's website has both.

    https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/cameraraw.html?promoid=DINTF

This plugin will allow you to make changes to your file such as exposure, white balance, brightness, contrast, vibrance and saturation and lots of other variables.

The plugin has an option at the bottom to export or save it to JPEG after you've made any changes.

I hope this helps if not I would be happy to convert the file to a usable format for you.

    Take care,
