U/D to calling about swine flu

I just called the hospital there to find out if they really have that many cases of swine flu or any at all since DH has heard a lot of rumors while he's been there and not all have been true.  I was eventually transferred to the OB/GYN department and she said that she wouldn't even be told if there are cases.

I will have to write DH a letter tonight and let him know that he may have to make alternate arrangments.  If he could find out if there are/aren't cases that would make things a lot easier to make a final decision on going there.  Friday is the last day that I can write him so that it will get to him in time.  I'm at a loss here in terms of trying to find out if it's just rumor or truth.

Re: U/D to calling about swine flu

  • How frustrating! Calling everyone on post to get an answer doesn't work very well in the army, unfortunately. No one ever knows who to talk to or what to say so sometimes people make stuff up or just say I don't know. Its frustrating that they can't even direct you to someone who would know. Can you go online and check the post newspaper? They might have some info. Or just go to the base's website and see if they have health alerts, etc.

  • That sucks.  Does the CDC have information on it?  I'd think they would know.  I don't know if you could contact/find out through them, though.

  • Ugh now I feel stupid I never noticed the health alert on the page.  There is one.

  • The alert says that those found to have it are confined to sick quarters and to use good handwashing procedures (duh) and antibacterial wipes.
  • I'm glad you found some information :-)
