We feed our kitties Nutro Complete cat food.  At a routine check-up with the vet this week, I happened to notice a flyer about a Nutro recall (on bags w/exp. dates from May to Aug. 2010) due to imbalanced zinc & potassium levels.  Upon returning home, I found that our babies had been eating the contaminated food!  One kitty was diagnosed with a heart murmur & low potassium blood levels.  (Chronic low potassium can affect heart function and lead to kidney failure!)  We immediately switched foods for them, and will have a second check up in a few weeks to see if kitty has improved.

If your cats are on Nutro, please check your bags to make sure you don't have a bad batch.  According to the website, the tainted bags were distributed to all 50 states.

I'm not a cat owner, but I'm glad you found out about the recall.  That's scary! Poor little kitty.

my kitty used to be on that food too so I remember hearing about the recall.  I hope your babies are ok!  It makes me so mad when things like this happen!
