You can order free retrofit covers if you have cords on your blinds from windowcoverings.org.  You just tell them how many you need and put in your address.

Sara if you go out to the website it explains what they do.  We have vertical blinda and right now we have it up out of the way, but  no in a permanent way and I believe all of our mini-blinds are good with the cords, not sure about ILs so I got some kits to be sure.
