What are you choosing? The traditional wood glider, like Dutalier, with the gliding ottoman or a stuffed chair glider/recliner? Also, what are you willing to spend on this item? The options seem overwhelming!
We went with the upholstered Harmony glider. I wanted a big, soft chair since I will be using it every night for months. I had a regular wood glider with my first and it wasn't nearly as comfortable. I paid close to $500 for the glider after shipping.
We got an upholstered gliding chair and ottoman. I just don't like the way the wood gliders look. We were all set to buy the Pottery Barn one ($1200 with ottoman), but decided last minute to get the Carter's one from BRU for $299 (including ottoman). We figure even if it is a piece of crap, it was super cheap!
upholstered - i personally do not like the wood ones......found mine on craigslist and it came with a rocking ottoman as well - for 350! I love it and will slipcover it and put it in my room after
I went with a Dutalier 914 model. ? I also got the recline feature and the ottoman with nursing stool. ?I tried a bunch of different chairs and it was the most comfortable for me. ?A lot of the stuffed chairs were to short and did not give me any neck and head support. ?I got the chair in an espresso color and the cushions in a cream microfiber. ?I love it! ?I spent about $1000 for the whole thing.
WE went with a dutailier glider option. We opened at BRU card and had coupons so we got it down to 350. Its originally 500 at BRU. We love it! And we can use it in other rooms when we are done with it in the nursery. Its so comfy I have slept in it quite often I might add! It reclines and rocks its awesome. its the dutailer grande in green microfiber.
I might add we tried out the short puffy upholstered options. And they were too short. My Dh is 6'2 and these chairs were uncomfortable for him to sit and rest his head on. We loved teh dutailier he actually fit in it. And I dont like the look of the upholstered chairs anyway.
We went with a regular recliner that we will be able to use for years and years in the family room, well after the baby no longer has a nursery. It has a massaging feature and it was only $275.
The upholstered stuff chair gliders are HEAVEN! It's seriously like sitting in a cloud and everytime I look for DH upstairs, I find him in ours! I HIGHLY recommend going that route... so comfy. We got a BEST chair and LOVE IT!
We are going with a fully upholstered glider and ottoman in a fabric that will work anywhere in our home later. I have not made up my mind yet, but we have it down to 2. Spending between $500-$700.
I would recommend looking at furniture stores such as Lazboy, Ashley, Haverty's etc...they have a nice selection and the prices compare to the baby specialty stores.
