How do you feel about registering for things that are only online? There are really no baby stores (Babies R Us.. etc.) nearby or close enough to all of our family. There of course are Targets and such. Target's in-store stuff is SO limited. I hate it.
What do you think? I'm just worried that some not-so-tech-aware family members (in-laws, and great-aunts) might have a problem with things being only available online. I'm afraid they'll just go out and buy something "close" to what I registered for and render the registry pointless. (This happened at my wedding... and I got 4 different crock pots because no one wanted to order the one I registered for online... and when someone bought me a different one, they didn't take the registered one off the registry.)
Re: Registry question
You know your family better than we do. If that happened at your wedding, it may happen again. Is there anyone (mom, sister?) who could play registry police and try to keep it updated without telling you what people are buying?
Most of my family does not live near big stores, but for my wedding people either ordered online or gave us checks. Only one person bought off-registry and it wasn't a big deal (no duplicates).
Look into the return policies of the stores. What if you get 2 bouncy seats and no gift receipts? If it isn't one you are registered for, will the store take it back??
Some items I had my heart set on and I only wanted those items. Other things like receiving blankets and towels, it didn't matter which ones I received.?
I was worried about the same thing and so I went ahead and did it and my mom quietly spread the word to give gift cards (that can still be used online) if you weren't able to find what I had requested or didn't understand how to log on and buy the things I wanted.
I ended up getting several gift cards and just went online and bought the things thats were left in the 'online only' sections!
Good Luck!!

I have tried to avoid registering for things that were online only. I think I might have 2 or 3 things that were online only, but that is it. I find that a lot of people go to buy the shower gifts the week of and don't know until they get to the store that they are online only and by then it is often too late to order something online. I also don't think people like to pay for shipping for items.
