We've been hoping to get a Step 2 or Little Tikes swing set for our toddler for a while now, but don't want to shell out $600 for it. So we've been checking craigslist like lunatics for one. This is the second time in the last few weeks that someone has promised to hold one for us and then sold it. I realize these are people just trying to make a quick sale and not stores, but if someone contacts you and tells you they'll be there tomorrow with the $ to pick it up and you agree then shouldn't you actually do that?! Both times the sellers have stopped responding to emails and then eventually just sent quick emails saying that the items had been sold. So frustrating.
Re: Craigslist is seriously p-ing me off
That sounds very frustrating - it is not like you are asking them to hold it for a week so you can see it.
I have been shopping Kijiji (Canadian version of Craigslist) for a jogging stroller. Although I am not looking for a specific brand I have several features that I want it to have and I also don't want it to be too old. I will email people to ask them about the specific features and the age of the stroller and don't hear back from them at all. I understand people not responding if the item sells (rude - but understandable) but sometimes I see the same thing being re-posted over and over without ever getting a response.
This. I know it can be frustrating as a buyer, but as a frequent seller on Craigslist, I can't tell you how many times I've held stuff for people that we're coming 'first thing in the morning with the cash' that suddenly drop off the face of the planet. As a result, I have a firm 'no hold, first come, first serve' policy. It stinks, but like I said, I've learned the hard way. As sellers, they should have been upfront if they didn't intent to hold the product, though.
